Delegate Charlotte A. Crutchfield was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018, where she serves on the Judiciary Committee and is Chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Subcommittee. She is a member of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland, Inc., Women Legislators of Maryland, Maryland Veterans Caucus, and the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus. She formerly served on the Montgomery County (MD) Merit System Protection Board, where she was appointed in 2014 by the Montgomery County Council to serve a three-year term.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University and Juris Doctorate degree from Boston College Law School. She is a former Assistant State’s Attorney for Montgomery County. Currently, she practices employment law and is a trained mediator.

Additionally, Delegate Crutchfield has been an active participant in local politics with her election to a four-year term on the Montgomery County (MD) Democratic Central Committee in 2010. She has been a member of various Democratic clubs in Montgomery County (MD) to include President of the Maryland Legislative District 19 Democratic Club and membership on the Executive Board of the Woman’s Democratic Club of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Her commitment to her community has included service as Parliamentarian for the Potomac Valley Section, National Council of Negro Women, Inc., President of Glenallan Elementary School PTA, member of the Board of Directors of Tivoli Homeowners Association, member of Kemp Mill Toastmasters, and the N.A.A.C.P Parent’s Council Representative for John F. Kennedy HS, PTSA.

Delegate Crutchfield is a member of the Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter (MD) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a widow, mother of two adult children and resides in Silver Spring, MD.
